How does it look and play?
Note: This is based on gameplay played for the beginning of Far Cry 5 at a preview event last week. Impressions and a review based on the final retail game will be posted early next week when review embargo lifts.

The build at IGX 2017 was also played on a Debug PS4 Pro unit as well and while it was an early build, it looked rough in many areas. Performance wasn’t amazing either on that build. Thankfully both of these issues have been fixed and the version played at the preview event last week looked excellent and ran without issues in the first few hours. There were some minor instances of popin in the distance but it felt polished and reminded us of how well Watch_Dogs 2 looked and ran. Another thing that has been fixed is the gunplay and feedback for weapons. Melee combat feels great as well and you get access to a lot of different weapons right from your first proper mission which is nice.

When it comes to the narrative and story, without getting into spoilers, the opening is very memorable. Instead of getting you into the action immediately, you get to see some nice character introductions and then get free control of your custom character and this is where the actual gameplay begins. Far Cry Primal was a gorgeous game and it looks like the team has taken everything great about how the wilderness and forests look there to make the early areas of this game look gorgeous.

We will have a full review for Far Cry 5 next week.
