Xbox One console owners will need to download a system update when they boot up their console for the first time. However, according to Microsoft, this update is not needed to tied in to ‘enabling the offline features’ .
Here’s the official statement, “A day one system update for Xbox One has always been planned to accommodate the differences between hardware and software manufacturing schedules. This update is not tied directly to enabling offline functionality of Xbox One, but is required for the system to function both online and offline.”
This patch is in accordance to Microsoft’s new policies with regards to the Xbox One.
