Update: Playdead has officially announced that PS3 and Steam versions of Limbo are on the way.
Original story
IVG’s 2010 Downloadable Game of the Year – Limbo, which has so far been exclusive to the Xbox 360, seems to be heading to the PS3, if an update on the website of the Korean Rating Board is to be believed. Sony Computer Entertainment Korea has been listed as publisher. Interestingly, a recent post on Neogaf also bears evidence of an impending PC release via Steam. Limbo is a unique puzzle-platformer by Danish developer Playdead Studios, which earned near-unanimous praise from gamers and critics for its stark, minimalist art style, simple gameplay, and challenging puzzles.
Limbo is the latest in a list of successful downloadable titles to go from Xbox 360 exclusivity to seeing a delayed PS3 release, following in the footsteps of Braid and Castle Crashers. Limbo was the standout title from 2010’s Summer of Arcade on Xbox Live. This year’s Summer of Arcade kicks off a few days from now.
IVG gave Limbo an impressive 9/10, calling it “a stand out example for games to be more than just games or entertainment”.
