OpenFeint, Scoreloop and Plus+ are just three of the social gaming platforms on the iPhone vying for centrestage and recognition as the iPhone’s Xbox LIVE. Leaderboards, social networking, apps, and myriad other features, along with game developer support and an aggressive revenue model seems to be tilting the balance in OpenFeint’s favour though, or at least that’s what the company behind it claims.

US-based Aurora has over 1,000 developers registered for OpenFeint thanks in part to their policy to make game development completely free. As a result, over 100 games now support OpenFeint.
Adding to the competition though, is UK-based Chillingo’s recently-announced Crystal, a platform that the company dubs “the de-facto social gaming standard for iPhone and iPod Touch”, with player profiles, achievements, challenges, and social networking features, almost mirroring Microsoft’s offerings through Xbox LIVE.
iPhone and iPod Touch gamers are certainly spoilt for choice. Which platform do you prefer? Let us know at the IndianVideoGamer Community forums.
