We just got word from E-Xpress Interactive that THQ’s open-world action game Saints Row 2 will see a Day One release in India on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, which means the game will be in stores on October 15. The Xbox 360 version will be priced at Rs 1,999, while the PlayStation 3 version will retail for Rs 2,499. The PC release will follow later as per its international release date.
And there’s joy to be had for racing fans as the latest installment in Rockstar’s largely slept-on Midnight Club series – Midnight Club Los Angeles gets set for release in India on October 24. Midnight Club: LA will also be available on Xbox 360 for Rs 1,999 and on PlayStation 3 for Rs 2,499.

It doesn’t end there! Now some good news for FPS fans – Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2 will also release in India very close to international release date and will be available on PC as well as Xbox 360 and PS3. That’s news for console owners as, until now, only PC versions of select Ubisoft games were released in India. We also have confirmation that Prince of Persia will release in India on all platforms. We’ll know the release dates and pricing for the various platforms for both games in the coming days.
There’s more!
So with the action, racing, and FPS genres covered, here’s something for the sports fans. Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will also release in India. However, since we follow Asian release dates for Konami, the game won’t hit stores until November. The PC version should be available by mid-November and the PS3 version will follow it with a November-end release. Due to region issues, we’re not yet sure if the Xbox 360 version will release in India. 2K Sports’ Top Spin 3 too will be hitting stores soon.
It certainly looks like the people at E-Xpress are keeping themselves quite busy these days. If all the games mentioned above weren’t enough, here’s more – some of the best PlayStation 2 titles from the likes of Ubisoft, Take-Two, THQ and Eidos will be making their way on to store shelves very soon. Hits such as the Prince of Persia games, the Grand Theft Auto series and the Tom Clancy franchises will be available in India. We’re told that some of these games are in stores already, while more are added each week. Roughly 95 per cent of these titles will be priced at Rs 799, and the rest will sell for Rs 999. We’ll have a complete list of titles, along with some new Wii and DS releases from E-Xpress in the coming days so be sure to check back.
Will these release dates stick or will Indian gamers once again be done in by our biggest enemy – the pot-bellied, booger-eating customs officer? Only time will tell. But it’s certainly good to see Ubisoft finally show some love to console owners in India. But I think we should all hold off on the affectionate praise till we see the prices.
