Nvidia has just announced PhysX and APEX support for Sony’s PlayStation 4, Slashgear is reporting. This may come as a surprise to some since the PS4 is fuelled by AMD hardware, while both PhysX and APEX are considered to be exclusive to NVIDIA.
If you aren’t too sure what APEX and PhysX bring to your games, here’s a quick description from NVIDIA themselves (via CVG):
Game designers use PhysX and APEX technologies for collision detection and simulation of rigid bodies, clothing, fluids, particle systems and more across a wide range of platforms, including desktop PCs, game consoles, and mobile and handheld devices.
