Overwatch fans, rejoice! Lucioball is returning to Overwatch. The game mode introduced in last year’s Summer Games event is coming back for this year’s event, along with new and returning event-themed skins.
In a brand new developer update, Overwatch project lead Jeff Kaplan took the time to walk us through the upcoming changes. The Summer Games will run from August 9 to 29, allbeit with a few changes:
- There is now going to be a competitive Lucioball playlist, complete with placing and ranking
- Opponents in Lucioball can no longer be “booped”, and popping Lucio’s ultimate will not attract the ball towards you but will instead increase the player movement speed and reduce the cooldown on the “boop” ability
- Along with last year’s Rio map, a new Sydney map will be added to the playlist
Apart from that, as usual, the event brings its own set of event-based loot crates, featuring all new cosmetic drops apart from the aforementioned original set of items from last year’s event. The pricing on these would be as follows:
- New 2017 Summer Games cosmetic items:
- Legendary Skins: 3,000 credits
- Epic Skins: 750 credits
- Rare tier: 225 credits
- Common tier: 75 credits
- 2016 Summer Games cosmetics
- Legendary Skins: 1,000 credits
- Epic Skins: 250 credits
- Rare tier: 75 credits
- Common tier: 25 credits
