Microsoft has just announced that it’s planning new app releases for the Xbox 360. According to Robin Burrowes, Xbox Live product marketing manager for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), more third party apps are on their way to the console. He said that the engine was being built to cater to additional volume of content from extended entertainment partners. “The announcement of more partners coming to the platform will give us that critical mass of content experiences.”, he added.
One app announcement that we can most certainly expect for the Xbox 360 is Skype, which Microsoft has acquired recently for $8.5 billion. The Xbox 360 already has a handful of Xbox Live apps, of which only two (Facebook and Twitter) have made it to the Indian service. Let’s hope that this positive move by Microsoft opens the door to more.
