Braid creator Jonathan Blow showcased his new game, The Witness, at Sony’s Playstation 4 reveal a couple of days ago, leading many to believe the game was exclusive to Sony’s next-gen console.
Blow has now clarified in a new blog post that The Witness will be exclusive to the PS4 during the “launch window” for consoles only, meaning it won’t arrive on competing platforms like the Wii U or the next Xbox for a while.
He added, “This exclusivity does not prevent us from being on the PC or iOS at launch,” hinting that the game will launch simultaneously on PS4, PC and iOS.
Blow also mentioned that no money was involved in the “exclusive” deal with Sony, adding that the sole purpose of the deal was to provide a proper “high-spec” game release.
Blow also mentioned that Sony was simply more responsive. “I don’t have good communication with anyone at Microsoft right now, but all our technical people like the PS4 specs a lot more than the leaked Durango specs, and we like the positioning of the PS4 (it’s about games) more than what we perceive Microsoft’s positioning is going to be.”
