After EA’s exclusive partnership with Amazon India kept FIFA games off brick-and-mortar store shelves for years (officially anyway), the popular football franchise is finally set to launch across online and offline stores this year with FIFA 20.
With E-xpress Interactive signing a distribution deal with EA earlier this year, we’ve already been seeing FIFA 19 and other back-catalogue EA titles coming back to stores, but FIFA 20 will be the first EA title to be hitting stores at launch under the new deal.
EA had sparked outrage in India in 2013 when – through its then distribution partner Milestone Interactive – it had decided to stop selling physical editions of its PC games in India even though digital distribution was still at a nascent stage. The outcry even sparked its own social media hashtag – #EAPCIndia. Fast-forward to 2019, and EA’s physical PC games are returning to India. We guess physical media still has some legs.
Last week, EA unveiled FIFA 20’s new cover stars along with the game’s two editions – new Real Madrid signing Edin Hazard will be on the cover of the FIFA 20 Standard Edition, while Champions League-winning Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk will grace the cover of the FIFA 20 Champions Edition. There’s also the Ultimate Edition with a limited-time bonus, which is exclusive to digital platforms.
Here’s what each of the editions of FIFA 20 contains, besides the base game:
