Don't discount Vita: Sony to retailers

Sony India has told retailers, both online or offline, not to offer straight-up discounts or bundle offers on their upcoming console, the Playstation Vita.

The Vita is set to release tomorrow and has already been met with a bit of a backlash from consumers due to high prices of the console itself as well as games and accessories. The blow, however, was softened by retailers, who were offering attractive bundles on the console and related games and accessories.

We’ve now got word from certain retailers, who’ve asked to remain anonymous, that they have received instructions to take down any such offers and not offer any more discounts. We’re not sure if this directive applies to all retailers, but with one day to its release, it seems those who missed out on preordering the Vita may have to pay MRP.

We’ve asked Sony India to comment on this new directive, and we’ll have an update for you soon.

In the mean time, you can check out our review of the Playstation Vita, and it’s standout launch title, Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
