Update: Shopto is reporting that Crossbuy purchases will be applicable to both retail and digital release, something that was not confirmed by Sony earlier.
It seems EA are also looking to add to Sony’s Crossbuy title list by introducing Need For Speed Most Wanted in it. “We’re taking it under consideration, but we have no specific plans to announce at this time,” an EA spokesperson told IGN. If true, it will shape out to be a great deal for gamers looking to purchase the upcoming racer on both platforms.
Original story
Sony won the hearts of many gamers by announcing a cross-purchase feature called Crossbuy, whereby games who buy a PS3 version of game will get the PS Vita absolutely free.
The said offer applies to only Sony first party titles that are coming in near future – Playstation All Stars: Battle Royale, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Ratchet & Clank: Q Force. Each of these games also make use Sony’s cross-platform features and the company promised to add more titles to the category.
It is unclear at this point if the offer holds true for both digital and retail release but it’s seemingly guaranteed that it is valid for digital copies. It’s also worth mentioning that unlike previous PSN releases like those of Foosball 12 and Motorstorm RC, one will get the Vita version free with purchase of a PS3 copy and not the other way round. More information on this as it unfolds.
