Activision dropped a new multiplayer trailer for this year’s Infinity Ward developed Call of Duty game, and we gotta say, it’s looking pretty damn good.
This year’s Call of Duty is essentially a reboot to 2007’s Call of Duty, and as the name suggests, will take place in modern times. But perhaps the most interesting announcement was that this year’s Call of Duty won’t lock maps behind a Season Pass, and it’ll ship with Cross Play across both PC and Console.
From a gameplay perspective, expect most of the tried and tested Call of Duty modes along with a brand new 2V2 multiplayer game mode, as well as a 100 player mode called Ground Wars – where two teams of 50 battle it out for online supremacy. Rumour has it this year’s Battle Royale’s map will be three times the size of Blackout (Call of Duty: Black Ops IV’s BR mode) and will house up to 200 players.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set for an October 25th 2019 release date. Pre-ordering the game will grant you early access to the open beta that’ll kick off first on the PS4 on September 12th. The open beta for the PS4 will begin two days later on September 14th, while all platforms will get their hands on the open beta September 21st.
