Ashes Cricket 2009 coming to India on August 7

A while back we wondered out loud if we would see a cricket game in 2009. Soon after that, Ashes Cricket 2009 was revealed for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PC, and today, Codemasters have finally announced that the game will release less than a month from now on August 7. With the announcement also came the game’s debut trailer.

We’ve been in constant touch with E-Xpress Interactive, Codemasters’ distributor for India, and they’ve confirmed that the game will be available in India on August 7 itself. In fact, we’ve been saying that on the forums long before Codemasters confirmed it today. The PC version will be priced at just Rs 499, while the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will retail for Rs 1,999.

We know that the Wii version will also release here, but while it will release in the UK on August 7, we still don’t know if it will release here simultaneously or what it will be priced at.

There are two covers for Ashes Cricket 2009 – the UK version will have Kevin Pietersen on the cover, while Ricky Ponting will star on the Aussie cover. We in India will get the best of both worlds, and the ability to choose the cover of our choice.

Codemasters also released the game’s first trailer today, and while previews on various sites have been quite positive, the trailer itself leaves a lot to be desired. Take a look for yourself (also viewable in HD) and tell us what you think at the IndianVideoGamer Community forums.
