A PS2 game with Achievements

It might surprise many of us now that we’ve moved on to the Xbox 360 and PS3, but there are still a lot of new PS2 games coming out; and not just ports of games like FIFA and Madden, but new IP. One such new game is Street Cricket Champions (also available for PSP), developed by Trine Studios and targeted primarily at the cricket-loving Indian audience. And much to our surprise, the game has Achievements. Not Trophies; Achievements.

Sure, Steam has achievements too, but really, no one cares. Achievements have become synonymous with the Xbox 360, so it seems rather strange that a PlayStation game, published by Sony no less, would include Achievements, and call them Achievements. Of course, these Achievements are unique to the game and aren’t part of the PS2 system, but just goes to prove how the simple system of Achievements has caught on like wildfire.
