3DS analog pad accessory officially confirmed

With all the rumours floating around about a Nintendo 3DS analog pad add-on, it was rather disappointing that Nintendo did not mention any such hardware being developed at the press conference held at the Tokyo Game Show. But to everyone’s surprise, the official Nintendo Japan website now lists such an accessory along with its rough technical details. The 3DS add-on, called the Nintendo Expansion Slide Pad, will be available on December 10 at a price of ¥1500. Although it is still unclear as to how the add-on integrates with the console, the website says that the accessory will need an alkaine battery to operate, which doesn’t sound very practical.

The website also lists six games as compatible with the new add-on – Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Resident Evil: Revelations, Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble, Dynasty Warriors VS, and Monster Hunter Tri G. Gamers’ reaction to this accessory has been largely underwhelming due to its odd design. The Expansion Slide Pad also suggests that Nintendo might have gone wrong with the original design of the 3DS console.
