2K Games today officially announced that Borderlands 2 is currently under development at Gearbox Software. Its predecessor was a rather unique four-player, role-playing, shooter, loot experience, and even got an impressive 9/10 from us. As you would expect from the sequel, Borderlands 2 will feature new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment. The setting for the game will span across new, unexplored areas of planet Pandora.
The game will make its first public appearance at Gamescom 2011, which takes place from August 17 – August 21 in Germany, and will also be featured at PAX Prime from August 26 – August 28. Borderlands 2 will release on the Xbox 360, the PS3 and PC sometime after April 1, 2012.
