playstation
Dragon's Dogma Publisher: Capcom Developer: Capcom Release date: Early 2012 System-Ps3,X360 Description Capcom already boasts a host of original intellectual properties. Now, the creative team behind two of them, Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, are crafting an all-new IP which the publisher announced today. Titled Dragon's Dogma, the new game will ship for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. Though not yet rated by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board, Capcom said it expects the game to get an M for Mature label. Dragon's Dogma is a fantastical open-world combat game which will see players fight a whole bestiary full of mythological creatures, including goblins, griffins, and hydras. Players will lead a party of three, which, judging by an early trailer for the game, will include an archer and warrior class of some sort. Players will control their primary character while their companions engage in independent action based on their experiences. Details were thin on the overall plot of Dragon's Dogma, other than it will concern the "epic" quest to track down and slay an infamous dragon. However, Capcom did say that the game would feature hundreds of fully voiced non-player characters. As for gameplay, Capcom said that it would be combat-focused, with an emphasis on players' reactions to foes' attacks. Also important will be the detail makeup of items, with weight and material playing a crucial role. The game will be based on Capcom's MT Framework and sport lighting effects and graphics similar to those seen in Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5. dylanjosh
Looks epic. RPG? I think they would said clearly if it was an RPG.. they're calling an open-world combat focussed game.

dylanjosh
The look of the environments remind me ES4. Also, seeing as he's wielding different weapons... and using different spells and stuff, I think it has RPG elements. But maybe it's really shallow and they want to avoid the backlash it would cause if they actually said it was an RPG?

Nemo
no i meant like clicky, clunky combat like rpgs ala dragon age. Mass effect is pretty much a shooter with some rpg elements; have no idea about skyrim but it looks more combaty than your standard D&D. again, just a personal opinion. CarbonCore
All RPGs have clunky combat mechanic compared to out n out action games like DMC and Ninja Gaiden. Yeah me too was hoping for a proper action title and not some weird-a*s RPG, but whatever.
