Genre : Third person action adventure

Platform : WII

At the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Nintendo did not much more than tease that the Wii would be getting a second installment in the Legend of Zelda franchise. This year, though, the publisher led its E3 press conference with the first public demo for Link's newest action adventure, in the process definitively announcing Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will arrive in 2011.

Link returns next year.

Nintendo's live demo of Skyward Sword was offered by none other than franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto. Joined by Nintendo marketing executive Bill Trinen onstage, Miyamoto showed how the new Zelda will integrate with the Wii's motion-sensing scheme, with the Wii Remote doubling as a sword and the Nunchuk serving as a shield. Foes confronted and vanquished during the demo included carnivorous plants, disembodied eyeballs, and orcish creatures.

Beyond Link's hallmark sword and board, Miyamoto also showed off a number of other weapons in Link's arsenal, including a slingshot, bow and arrow, bomb, and whip. Of the whip, players have precise control over its direction, thanks in part to the game's intergration with the Wii's precision-enhancing MotionPlus add-on.

The demo also introduced the beetle, which flies off Link's wrist like a falcon, and players have a limited time to guide it around the level, scouting areas or picking up items.

Before ending his demo, Miyamoto noted that Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be available for play on the E3 showfloor

doesnt look too great after what nintendo were saying about it revolutionizing the zelda franchise... cel shaded graphics are nice and makes the game look a lot more vivid and the approach is better on the wii since realistic wii games look pretty bad on hdtvs ....

Developer: Nintendo EAD

Publisher: Nintendo

Platform: Nintendo Wii

Genre: Action/Adventure

Release date: 2011

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is an action-adventure game currently in development by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development, and the sixteenth installment in the Legend of Zelda series.

The game was first announced in E3 2009 with a single concept art. During an interview, Shigeru Miyamoto gave a hint on the story by pointing out that Link doesn't hold a sword in the illustration, which raised speculation about the mysterious female actually being a personification of the Master Sword.

He also announced employment of the Wii MotionPlus for integral parts of the gameplay, such as sword-fighting. Eiji Aonuma, who will not assume directorial duties, later confirmed the peripheral to be mandatory for the title and described aforementioned swordplay as feeling very natural, as if Link's sword and the player's controller became one. In addition to the new and more accessible controls, the game system will change the traditional flow found in previous Zelda installments and was developed first, in favor of building the game around cutscenes. Miyamoto stated that they are preparing "gorgeous" graphics for the title, which will focus on conveying the atmosphere of a real adventure again, and will try to correct the flaws of Twilight Princess while maintaining and improving on the realism it portrayed.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed plans to release the game by the end of 2010, and mentioned that it would debut at E3 2010. At the event, it was announced that the subtitle was Skyward Sword, and that the game would be delayed until 2011. The 2010 E3 presentation revealed that the graphic style combined the realism from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with the cel shaded graphics from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.
