Keyofx
Transformers: The War for Cybertron Developer: High Moon Studios Publisher: Activision Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC Genre: (Third Person) Action-adventure Modes: Single-player/Multiplayer(?) Activision has an all-new Transformers game on its slate for next year, one that looks like it will be taking gameplay cues from Gears of War. According to the newest issue of Game Informer, Transformers: The War for Cybertron is a third-person shooter that chronicles the Autobot's battle waged against the evil forces of the Decepticons. And vice versa, as early reports from subscribers and serious Transformers fans indicate we'll play as both robotic factions. The game is said to be in development at High Moon Studios, developers of Darkwatch and The Bourne Conspiracy, and due for a 2010 release. Transformers: The War for Cybertron apparently falls outside various Transformers continuities with a look that's less blocky than the Generation One style of 'bot, but not as visually offensive as the Michael Bay version of the classic Takara toy. Allspark.com forum members peg the visual style as resembling the Transformers: The War Within comic book series. Seen in the mag are Optimus Prime, Megatron—tank-style, not handgun-style—Soundwave, Ironhide and more. Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC versions of the new Transformers game are said to be in the works. And if we know Activision, it won't stop there. kishan
link: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-28759-A...unced-for-2010# """" The recent copy of Game Informer magazine included a bit of unexpected news. A new game set in the Transformers Universe is currently in development by Activision and High Moon Studios. The game wiill be released sometime in 2010 for the PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360. This version of Transformers will not be based on the Michael Bay movie versions or the original 80s Transformers cartoon. Instead, it will be loosely based on the Transformers War Within comic book series. The designs of the Autobots and Decepticons will look completely new but do pay more of a homage to the original designs than the recent movie versions. Gameplay promises to be a third-person shooter that features campaigns for both the Autobot and Decepitcon side. Transforming is supposed to play a big role and you won't be limited to ground based transformations. You'll even have the option to pick which Transformer you want to control on mission. Multiplayer is promised but no details about what this entails has been given yet.""""" c ya

KeezNah
(in before the jackass brigade arrives). you saved me the trouble of creating this thread so i'll let it slide =D on a serious note: i wonder how the actual transforming mechanics would work in a gears of war gameplay style, but i'm guessing these instances would be played separately from each other rather than having them blend seamlessly. for all the sh*t ROTF got for its overly repetitive mission structure and stupid clocked timers, transforming in and out in a sandbox environment felt quite nice and right. it just needed something substantial for players to do ;/
Tyler
Crysis-like structure/levels would work best for a game like this. Should give enough room for transformation/driving as well as the shooting elements. Anyway, the game sounds really good. I'm definitely looking forward to it. Also can we have non-movie licensed G.I. Joe game now?

All High Moon need to do is add a cover mechanic. The transforming worked fine even though the levels weren't free-roam. I still can't believe how good that game looked. Who needed next gen when there was tech like that running on a PS2. Why do all the good devs die

I hope they consider 2 things 1. Please don't mess up the mythology. I don't mind a modern take or a reboot but make it interesting. 2. Please make Starscream a badass. After Michael Bay violently raped my childhood twice, I hope this is done well.
