The Xbox Series X|S thread
Lack of CoD exclusivity was definitely a catalyst & Disney obviously has a say in Indie. But games Like Doom,Outer Worlds have nothing to with any other corporate or regulators other than M$. The shear meaning of announcing them day & date with Xbox means that they just can’t do what they did with HiFi Rush etc. They can’t cheat ppl by hiding the fact that they are either day1 or year1 on Playstation aswell. Something that they have mastered since the early Xbox Era. Sony has clearly laid down some conditions if they want to publish their games on Playstation going forth. -

Thought this might happen! Studios they were purchasing were expensive - and they still couldn't attract more gamers and had contracts drawn in public knowledge that major franchises would be non-exclusive! Satya is also into Cloud and GPU, so exclusives would be counter to that I think! More like MS couldn't develop their studios properly I think! CoD was their best bet - but they lost exclusivity in a ftc deal that became public knowledge! Indy was a non-starter I think because Disney would have applied pressure to market non-exclusivity - not Sony (after all development contract would have been made before the acquisition and Disney is a giant too)! Rest all games of MS were either too small or flopped! Elder Scrolls is their only remaining big IP to come out since the acquisition that has any major hype at all I think! Ultimately if MS is going down the Gamepass route and betting everything on GPU and becoming the next Netflix of Games, then they have to reduce or abandon exclusives, bet on Cloud and put everything on all devices! That's what OTTs and all Subscription Models do! What's the use of having a subscription model and limiting it to 1-2 devices (Xbox and PC)
