IMO, DEI is a disguise for getting cheap labor (skilled and unskilled) especially in blue dollar jobs, distraction from protests against high executive pays (Occupy Wall Street). Also awards (for e.g Oscars) / critic ratings are given to those with diversity rather than merit. With money and peer pressure, you can bend anyone.
