After a tumultuous year plagued by industry-wide layoffs and unending promises/threats of GenAI, it’s time to look forward to 2025 with a positive outlook. Here are some of the most eagerly anticipated games (in alphabetical order) coming to PC and consoles in 2025, including a couple from left field that may just surprise us.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Set in feudal Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows introduces a darker narrative and a stealth-centric gameplay experience. Players will master ninja tactics, parkour, and strategic combat in a richly detailed open world. After a tough 2024, Ubisoft will be hoping this is the game that will help reverse its fortunes.

Doom: The Dark Ages

This techno-medieval twist on the Doom franchise sees players battling demons with swords, bows, and ancient weaponry in a gothic setting. The brutal combat, combined with a lore-rich narrative that delves into the origin story of the Doom Slayer, promises to be another high point for id Software’s Doom revival that kicked off in 2016.
Elden Ring: Nightreign

The Elden Ring universe expands with Nightreign, a standalone co-op RPG set in a procedurally generated world. Fable

Despite being announced a while back, not much concrete information is available about Fable, Playground Games’ revival of the beloved RPG series set in a reimagined Albion. While we do hope that Fable will finally see the light of day in 2025, this is one of those titles that we do fear slipping into next year, especially as Microsoft lines up other big hitters in 2025.
Ghost of Yotei

Drawing inspiration from Japanese folklore, Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Yotei offers an emotionally charged story of vengeance and redemption. With breathtaking visuals and dynamic hack-and-slash combat, this spiritual successor to Ghost of Tsushima is sure to be an instant must-play for PS5 – and at some point in 2026 or 2027 – PC gamers.
Grand Theft Auto 6

Rockstar Games’ juggernaut franchise returns with a sprawling map inspired by Vice City and more. With an ambitious narrative, improved AI, and unparalleled attention to detail, GTA 6 is set to redefine open-world gaming once again. Although we have yet to see anything from GTA 6 since its debut trailer in December 2023, there’s a reasonable amount of optimism in industry circles to suggest that it will finally see the light of day in 2025.
Mafia: The Old Country

Set in 1920s Sicily, this Mafia prequel offers an origin story filled with betrayal and power struggles. The fourth game in the series goes back to the more narrative-driven and structured approach of Mafia and Mafia 2, after going completely open-world in Mafia 3.
Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a lush, interconnected ecosystem filled with challenging monsters and cooperative gameplay. The previous game in the series, Monster Hunter World, was Capcom’s highest-selling game of all time, and with positive feedback from Wilds’ open beta last year, this one looks set to take the series to new heights.
