IVG’s Most Discussed Games: June to August

Welcome to the first edition of our monthly feature on the most popular games at IVG. At the start of each month, we’ll be highlighting the ten most popular games from the previous month based on how much those games are discussed on our forums. This being the first edition, we’ll expand the time period to include the last three months, covering E3 and GamesCom. Since this is a longer period, we’ll also expand the size of the list to include the top 20 games.

Topping the list, head and shoulders above the rest, is Naughty Dog’s upcoming Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. A steady stream of news and media from E3 and GamesCom as well as a closed multi-player beta ensured that Nathan Drake’s latest adventure always gave IVG something to talk about. A somewhat distant second is the brilliant Batman: Arkham Asylum, which incidentally is today arriving at the doorsteps of IVG members who participated in our Arkham Asylum preorder. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Ashes Cricket 2009 unsurprisingly bring up 3rd and 4th places respectively.

Elsewhere in the list, games that were announced or first showcased at E3 make their way onto the list. These include Forza Motorsport 3 at 5th place, followed closely by Gran Turismo 5 at 6th, Metal Gear Solid: Rising at 13th, and Shadow Complex at 17th, which is incidentally also the only downloadable title in the list.

But not all games being discussed at IVG are new or upcoming releases. Lost Odyssey makes a surprise appearance at 14th place, as do Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (19th) and Fallout 3 (10th), the latter mostly thanks to DLC announcements and news of previously 360-exclusive DLC coming to the PS3. Nothing like fanboy fodder to stir up a discussion.
