Nvidia unveils RTX 50 series GPUs, prices start at Rs 59,000 for GeForce RTX 5070

GenAI sits at the centre of what Nvidia claims is a seismic jump in performance from previous generation

At CES 2025, Nvidia introduced its latest generation of desktop and gaming GPUs: the GeForce RTX 50 Series, promising revolutionary performance for gamers, creators, and developers. Powered by the new Blackwell architecture, these GPUs combine Nvidia’s industry-leading AI capabilities with improved graphics performance, delivering up to twice the power of the previous RTX 40 series.

Performance leap

The flagship RTX 5090 GPU boasts 92 billion transistors, making it the fastest Nvidia GPU yet, with the ability to perform over 3,352 trillion AI operations per second. New features like DLSS 4 use artificial intelligence to generate smoother frames, boosting performance up to 8x compared to traditional rendering methods. Gamers can also enjoy faster response times with Nvidia Reflex 2, which reduces input lag by up to 75%.

For laptop users, the RTX 50 Series GPUs bring desktop-level power to portable devices. Enhanced Max-Q technology improves battery life by 40% without compromising performance, making these GPUs ideal for gaming and creative tasks on the go.

Realism levels up

The RTX 50 Series aims to take realism to the next level with features like RTX Neural Shaders, enabling lifelike materials and lighting, and RTX Neural Faces, which uses AI to render highly realistic digital characters in real time. New advances in ray tracing allow up to 100x more detail in game environments, making characters and worlds feel more immersive than ever.

Nvidia is also introducing AI-driven game characters through its ACE technology, enabling smarter, autonomous companions and enemies. These features will debut in popular titles like PUBG: Battlegrounds and MIR5, enhancing gameplay with characters that can adapt dynamically to player behaviour.

Streamlined for creators

The RTX 50 Series isn’t just for gamers – creators will benefit from faster AI-driven workflows. These GPUs support advanced image generation and local AI models, enabling creative tools to run more efficiently. Nvidia’s Broadcast app adds features like Studio Voice, improving microphone quality, and Virtual Key Light, which enhances lighting for live-streamers.

India availability and pricing

Desktop GPUs in the RTX 50 Series lineup start at Rs 59,000 for the RTX 5070, with the top-tier RTX 5090 priced at Rs 2,14,000. Here’s the pricing and release window for each graphics card – note that these are for Nvidia’s own ‘founders edition’ reference cards and prices from third-party brands will differ:

  • GeForce RTX 5090: Rs 2,14,000 (January 30 onwards)
  • GeForce RTX 5080: Rs 1,07,000 (January 30 onwards)
  • GeForce RTX 5070 Ti: Rs 80,000 (February)
  • GeForce RTX 5070: Rs 59,000 (February)

Laptops featuring RTX 50 Series GPUs will roll out starting in March, with the exception of the RTX 5070, which will ship in laptops starting in April.
