At their Xbox Series X event last night, Microsoft gave the world a taste of Halo Infinite’s gameplay.
The eight odd minute gameplay clip shed some light on new gameplay elements, but what was most interesting was how big the game hub was. Halo games have always been linear shooters, but in a page taken out of Gears 5, Infinite will seem to have massive levels with various objectives that can be completed in any order. Besides some new – and some older weapons, Master Chief will also be able to wield a grappling hook that will allow him to move to an enemy faster, or to pick up and throw stuff at them.
The gameplay demo does seem to have divided the fanbase so far. Some love what they saw, while some were disappointed that it looked more of the same. And many were left wondering why the game didn’t look visually impressive. Perhaps the fact that this game will be available on the current generation of consoles has something to do with that too.
While no concrete release date was announced, expect Infinite to release sometime toward the end of the year for Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.
