Rockstar has officially launched Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced on PC, bringing next-gen features to the platform three years after the Expanded & Enhanced edition debuted on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. As part of this update, the original PC version—now referred to as GTA 5 Legacy—has been delisted from digital storefronts.
The new edition introduces a variety of upgrades, including:
- New vehicles
- Additional ambient wildlife
- Support for Rockstar’s GTA+ subscription service
- Ray-traced shadows and reflections
- Ambient occlusion and global illumination
- Support for higher resolutions, aspect ratios, and framerates
- AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS support (frame generation support via future updates)
- Faster loading times through SSD and DirectStorage
- Enhanced audio fidelity—including Dolby Atmos—and improved speech, cinematics, and music
- Adaptive trigger functionality for DualSense controller
For GTA Online players, the update brings kernel-based anti-cheat protections, proactive voice chat moderation, and new content.
GTA 5 Enhanced and GTA 5 Legacy will be treated as separate versions of the game, so players will only be able to play online with other players with the same version. Those switching to GTA 5 Enhanced will also be required to migrate their story mode and online progress.
