Rock Band, EA’s only major game franchise not to have released in India so far, is on its way to stores this month. Although it’s the first game that will be coming here rather than the recently released Rock Band 2, this is the first time that the entire instrument set will be available. Rock Band will come in two bundles – the complete set including drums, guitar, mic, and game, and the game-guitar bundle.

Rock Band should be in stores by December 20, and while the complete set will be priced at a reasonable Rs 6,990, the game-guitar bundle will set you back Rs 4,990. So far we only have confirmation on the release of the PS3 version, so if you’re looking for the Xbox 360 or Wii versions, you may be out of luck. And if you’re a fan of the music rhythm genre, things get even better this month. Firstly, DJ Hero, along with its unique turntable controller, has just arrived in stores for Xbox 360 and PS3 (Rs 8,250), and later this month, Band Hero with the entire instrument set (drums, guitar, mic) will find its way onto store shelves. Pricing is yet to be finalised for Band Hero, so keep an eye out on the forums for news on that.
Also due for release this month is Sony’s new cutesy virtual pet game EyePet, which comes with the PlayStation Eye camera, for Rs 2,799 (releasing on December 15). And inFamous is now a Platinum title so anyone who skipped this great game earlier should definitely consider picking it up at its new Rs 1,499 price point. Pandemic’s open-world, World War II-based action-adventure game, The Saboteur, is also due out this month on Xbox 360 (Rs 1,895), PS3 (Rs 2,499), and PC (Rs 999).
The game based on James Cameron’s upcoming film Avatar is also due for release this month on Xbox 360, PS3 (Rs 2,499) and PC (Rs 699). For racing fans, Codemasters’ first release with its newly-acquired F1 license – Formula 1 2009 – is already in stores for the PSP (Rs 1,499), while the Wii version along with the racing wheel peripheral will hit stores this month at Rs 2,499. MX vs ATV Reflex is also due out this month on Xbox 360, PS3, and PSP.
Also in December, be on the lookout for the first two in a flurry of Square-Enix back catalogue releases that will arrive in India over the coming months. Both Final Fantasy XII (PS2) and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (PSP) will be available for Rs 1,299. Finally, if you came here hoping for news on the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for PC, we’re sorry to disappoint; a release date is still nowhere in sight.
