After more than 20 years, Painkiller is making a return with a new entry that serves as a reboot of the classic PC shooter.
Developed by Anshar Studios and published under Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label, the game is set to launch this fall on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Anshar Studios, known for its work on Baldur’s Gate 3 and Layers of Fear, is taking the series in a new direction. The reboot introduces co-op gameplay, allowing up to four players to team up, though solo play with AI bots is also an option.
The game retains the fast-paced action, gothic atmosphere, metal soundtrack, and over-the-top weapons of the original, while adding new upgrade mechanics for characters.
Painkiller will be available on Steam, and players can wishlist it now ahead of its release.
