At the DICE summit 2013, Zombie Studios (Blacklight) unveiled their Unreal 4 engine based first person survival horror, Daylight. In it, players assume the role of a woman who mysteriously finds herself in an abandoned asylum in the middle of the night. Naturally, your goal in the game is to get the hell out of dodge using nothing but your smartphone.
That’s right. The game features absolutely no weapons and no combat, so your only choices are to run away from altercations or try and avoid them completely. The game’s USP is its procedurally-generated environments, which basically means every playthrough will yield different results. Zombie Studios hopes players will play the game multiple times as each playthrough (that by the way will last for around half an hour) will reveal different secrets and aspects of the asylum. Daylight’s story is being penned by IGN’s Jessica Chobot (wait, what!) who will also provide the voice for the lead character.
Daylight will release sometime this year on Steam for $20.
