Ubisoft has filed a trademark for Killing Day, their first person shooter they very unceremoniously abandoned after its debut during E3 2005.
The game did look rather stellar in 2005, but hasn’t aged very well since. Still, the amount of environmental destruction visible in the rather short gameplay clip still impresses, especially since no shooter has nailed that sort of kinetic and visceral gameplay since F.E.A.R. in 2005.
However, it seems this isn’t the first time Ubisoft renewed their Killing Day trademark. They did so in 2009 and then abandoned it once again in 2012. I’m beginning to see a pattern here, so it’s best not to get too excited unless there’s an official announcement.
