Halo 4 releasing on November 6; multiplayer details revealed

The recent  ‘Red Vs Blue’ Halo 4 trailer that released at Halo Waypoint revealed that Halo 4 will be releasing worldwide on November 6, 2012.

The trailer, which spans over three minutes, features three witless Red spartans discussing convoluted techniques to remember the release date whilst concealing it from the Blue spartans, re-iterating the release date over and over throughout the length of the trailer.

In a recent Halo Waypoint Sparkcast (podcast), 343 Industries also revealed details about the multiplayer component of the game. Halo 4 will feature random weapon spawns. The base weapons in the game will be well balanced with no “god tier” weapons, according to 343.

Objective game types will feature 5 vs 5 gameplay, while conventional team deathmatch game types will be 4 vs 4. Players will also be able create custom game types with a wide range of tweakable options, including gravity physics.

One aspect of the gameplay which will see a major overhaul is the armour abilities. In an attempt to balance out the armour abilities, ‘sprint’ has now been taken away from the regular armour modes and been made a standard ability, limited by a ‘sprint meter’. Armour lock has been banished as it was observed to be hindering the flow of the typical fast-paced Halo gameplay.

Also a new feature  in Halo 4 is the ‘Forerunner Vision’, which according to 343, is similar to the visor mode from Halo 3: ODST, aiding in situational awareness and not the X-ray vision it has been made out to be so far.

Finally, a new gameplay mode that will debut in Halo 4 is the ‘Spartan Ops’,  which carries over from the multiplayer modes with objective game types, placing emphasis on team work and communication with a touch of science fiction added as well.
