Update: Konami has confirmed that the Silent Hills project that was being developed by Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima has been cancelled.
“Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued,” Konami said in a statement published on Kotaku.
“In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements,”
Original story:
Silent Hills, the Silent Hill reboot that was being created by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, has reportedly been cancelled.
Konami has announced that P.T. (playable teaser), which was a short demo used to announce Silent Hills last year, will be removed from the PlayStation Store this week.
Following this announcement, del Toro is reported to have said in reference to the game at the San Francisco Film Society, “It’s not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart.”
Actor Norman Reedus, who was set to star in Silent Hills, has also tweeted about his disappointment at the game’s reported cancellation.
Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone ? http://t.co/drZJ8tBsSN

The cancellation may have been a result of the falling out between Kojima and Konami management, which will see Kojima leave the company after the release of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, and had also seen his name briefly removed from all of the game’s marketing material.
We’ll wait for an official confirmation from Konami about the cancellation of Silent Hills, but it doesn’t look good.
