First dedicated video games specialist opens its doors in Mumbai

Emerging market India is on the verge of welcoming its first dedicted national chain of video games retailer with the opening of the interestingly titled ‘Games The Shop’ in Mumbai’s R-City mall.

The owners plan to open an additional 15 stores over the coming year, all of which will stock both modern formats such as Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii as well as handheld and older consoles like the PS2.

Other promised in-store features include demo pods, specialist advisors and both chart and discount titles.

“The store will give the customers unmatched value proposition,” Games The Shop director Anand Khemani stated in a press release. “Our vision is a step forward to delight our customers with international standards of product range, service, quality and shopping experience.

“Unparalleled in India it will be the gaming destination store for families, gamers and all. Games The Shop is all set to create new industry benchmarks in the game specialist retail space and the biggest beneficiary shall be the end customer – after all he remains ‘The King’.”

well "stand alone" games shop obviously can create an awareness about gaming as an alternative form of entertainment.

i am sure microsoft and sony will get great benefits and increase sales of their hardware consoles through these shops

^^ mega-mall is in andheri after u pass goregaon depot... Its on the other side of Lucky's ( andheri ) or 5-spice.

R-City mall isn't that in ghatkopar? Out of my way :P BTW, the only good gaming store for me has been Origin games in Inorbit Malad. The owner has fantastic gaming knowledge and is proactively involved with customers all the time. :scratchchin:
