They haven't decided on a distributor yet so pricing is still some way off. Also, there may not be a physical release on PC, so just Steam.

Oh :'(, was hoping for a physical release.

Steam it is then.

How was thr game then?

  • Try different pitches and observe bounce, swing and seam. Does Perth feels different than Eden pitch or not?
  • Keep on slogging from the first ball and observe the effect on batsman's stamina.
  • Set up players all around the bat and see if abnormally large number of close in catches occur? aka Ashes Cricket 09

Well, there are different pitch types in the game. I don't think Perth is in the game (unless its under a different name) but for every ground, you can pick the pitch type. So you can have a Perth-like pitch even at Eden Gardens.

Batsman's stamina wasn't affected a whole lot with slogging, especially if your shot selection is right and you connect. However, while running between the wickets, there's a sprint option which requires more stamina. If you run twos for 4-5 consecutive balls and sprint all of them, you'll get fatigued quite quickly.

Didn't try too many field variations because I was focussing more on the batting and bowling.

^Indian Custom players.

Does the game have real players??

And when is it releasing for the ps3 system ??

No real players by default. Big Ant announced March-end for consoles, but the person I met today (from HES, the publisher) said they're still not certain about that.

Find out what the 'Legacy Mode' is. Maybe you can be the only person to reveal that info publicly

Also, if possible, download the top players from CA before you start playing and recording :P!

Finally....try and find out if there is co-op play online.....Ross never answers that question for me :chair:

I asked about Legacy Mode. He's (the rep from the publisher, not from the dev team) been playing the game for 18 days and he's never heard of Legacy Mode.

There's an option when you first launch the game to replace all players. This will automatically replace all the default players for all teams with the highest rated players from BAC.

There's no co-op offline or online. Just 1v1 both online and offline.

Oh, please forget everything every previous cricket game has taught you. This is a whole different ball game. Your success in batting and bowling depend largely on your simultaneous use of both analog sticks. There's a steep learning curve, which is great because in Ashes 09 and ICC 2010 you were owning the AI at max difficulty within hours.

Also, the HES rep said he's been playing the career mode about 6 hours a day for 18 days, and he's currently 4.5 years into the career. And it's a 20-year career. So this is one long career mode.

Career mode starts with you having to pick an Aus domestic team or a English county team, but like pretty much everything in the game it can be customised. So you can replace one of the County teams with a Mumbai Indians team from BAC and start with that.

I was really impressed by the insane amount of customisation in the game. You can actually start a ODI match at midnight and have it finish at 9 in the morning. Then you can alter the powerplay rules (how many powerplays in an innings, how many overs per powerplay, how many fielders allowed outside the circle), how many max overs each bowler is allowed, how far the boundary rope is. It's pretty crazy.

More on the career mode:

You start as a 16-year old and you can choose which domestic league you start in.

The main objective is to become the test captain of the national side, but your nation can differ from the country your initial team belongs to. So you can start your career in Yorkshire, but aim to become Test captain of India.

You have to choose your player type - bastsman, bowler, batting allrounder, bowling allrounder and batsman wicketkeeper. Along with this you also have to choose your position in the batting order and this is very important. If you choose to play the career as a fast bowler but choose a batting position of no. 7, you will not get as many bowling opportunites or chances to prove yourself as you would if you had chosen to bat at no 10 or 11.

Obviosuly you can simulate matches, but there are various simulation options - simulate till end of session (end of innings for ltd over matches, lunch/tea for tests), simulate till fall of wicket, simulate till score reaches X, simulate till player involvement. So you can pretty much skip all parts of the match that don't involve you. You can choose not simulate as well, so you can stand in the outfield and hope the ball comes your way.

There's lots of levels you need to climb before you can reach your ultimate goal of becoming national team test captian. This includes makin it to domestic T20, ODI and Test teams, then national T20, ODI and Test teams. And at each of these levels, there are different stages, from having no chance of being picked, to becoming a fringe player, to a regular member, to core team member.

No word on preorders until they sort out who's going to distribute it in India. I did speak with one distributors (they saw the game before me) and they said the game might be quite expensive. Like 3,499 or more on console.

As for wow moments - saw a fielder run backwards to take a catch and the ball was just going over the rope for a six. The fielder got right till the rope and jumped to try and catch it and prevent the six. The AI's awareness of the boundary rope and to attempt that dive was quite impressive to see.

On the flip side, the fielders do tend to slide around too much, even within the infield when the ball isn't really that far from them.

Also, pretty strange to see non-cricket commentatores doing commentary, but the commentary is quite dynamic. Eg: They'll comment if you manage to get a knick but didn't appeal (umpire wont give out if you dont appeal).

Did you get to simulate any match in career mode or otherwise? During the public play session, the build had a bug which led to a broken a simulation engine (teams scoring at 7 rpo in a 4 day match). Any experience with the simulation engine today?
